I found this bottle while bike riding thanks to a ground hog who excavated it from the earth while digging his hole! It was completely intact with no chips or scratches.

I have tried to identify it online but have been unsuccesfull. Any help identifying this bottle would be apprciated!

It is 4 3/4 inches tall. It has no markings on it except for a number 5 on the bottom in a circle. It is square in shape but the corners are cut off and they are fluted. The top and bottom of the bottle look like they may have been joined together about 1 inch up from the bottom. Since it has a screw top I am guessing it isn't as old as some of the bottles I have seen on this site. I think it may be some sort of medicine bottle.

One addtional bit of information...it was found on the Biltmore Estate in NC which was built by George Vanderbilt in the 1890's.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Cool bottle, I've dug some from time to time. I'm gonna take a guess and say 1940's to 1950's. No idea what it held. Maybe some kind of furniture polish or something?

I drive around in my golf cart in the summer time and shoot whistle pigs for the amish. ( So there horses don't break their leg in the ground hog hole) Kinda mean but it's gotta be done. [&:]

Yeah anything screw top is going to be from 20s on up. Probably held some sort of a cleaner, pine sol or something. If it doesn't have a name on it then there is very little value.
