Isn't it great when you do something so ridiculously stupid that you just have to laugh at yourself? That would be me today. I occasionally buy junk vehicles at my shop for parts and scrap salvage. The one I'm dismantling now is an Olds 88 sedan. Big ol' ugly thing. I noticed that this beast had two nice, straight spring steel trunk rods that would be perfect for a future probe construction. Now, this was at the end of a busy day with 200 things going on, but I'm still an idiot- I get in there with the handy pneumatic cut-off wheel...Bzzzz..one out...Bzzz...CRONK!! @#$%^&!!! Yep, I never propped up the trunk lid, and it all but knocked me out []
One would think that as long as I've been doing this, I'd know better. I did, but my brain was preoccupied with something obviously more important, whatever that may have been. Now, I have a big-azz goose egg on my head, but next time I need to build a probe, I'm all set! When I was all done, I closed that trunk lid with my 20-pound sledgehammer. It's sporting a nice "V" shape for its upcoming trip to the bone yard. Felt good [] ~Jim
