Hi all, I got permision to do some digging at this house. It's one of those added on in 3 different century houses. He bought as abandoned and it had trees groing inside from what I heard. I know of one depresion that looks like it might be a privy in the alcove area. I wonder if there's anything in it though. I'ts so near where so much foundation work would have gone on.
The main house is something Warren may be familiar with. It looks like something out of the old south. That part I think was early 1900's. It's got a ballroom, huge dining room etc. I posted a couple maps from the area, the one with the X is from 1895. I don't know why it doesn't show any buildings in the area. The brrok isn't realy there anymore except as drainage. The area was pretty much filled in for development in the 50's I think. That was also a swampy area that was probably loaded with stuff. There are a couple 1700's and early 1800 houses nearby.
I'll take some pics of the house today if it's not to wet. I'll add more as I think of it. I'm going to walk out behind where the pool is now.
I wish I owned a probe now. Any thoughts on where to start woud be appeciated greatly.
PS, Happy B-day Wayne and Kelly.

I would add a metal detector to your bottle digging tools if you plan on going there....there are probably many old coins and relics in the ground there to acompany the antique bottles![;)]

Eric...

If the pre-1900 sections were standing but abandoned, they probaby wouldn't show on the map...

That 1699 spot could prove exciting... Does research turn up any early taverns in that area?

Well, I took a few picks. It's raining so I didn't go for compesition. Here's the front. I thing this was early 1900's. He wasn't home afterall so I'll have to go back for more details.

This is the 1699 with other parts added on. The door I heard was a side door on an el. It's hard to picture what it may have looked like. I think more like a typical NE farm house. I gotta hit the histerical society sometime, library too.
