It's just a shard but the oldest date i have found, the other a 1886 3 cent piece

That date is on that bottle into the 1900's

Alot of people see that 1858 date embossed on canning jars & assume that is the actual date that the jar was produced. The Nov.30th 1858 date is actually the patent date for the zinc screw lid closure for the jar. John L. Mason eventually let his patent expire & soon afterwards, everyone & their brother was embossing their jars with the words "Mason's Patent" along with the 1858 patent date.
As Epackage has stated, these "1858" canning jars were produced for many years, going from crude mold-blown jars to more uniformed pieces manufactured by automated machines into the early 1900s.

11 Different variations of that Hutch on the Hutch site. Ranging from Common to Scarce to Rare. Wonder which one you have? If I found Hutches in my backyard I'd be digging the whole back yard up. LEON.

Well guys i guess i did assume about the patent date,now i know, thanks. Leon i have found a good many hutchs 4 Cresent Ctty Selzer,2 Pablo & CO ,Hope Mineral Water,City Bottling ,and a few others.We had a good rain so it a mess where i have been digging but i had to try. I turned up this little thing but can't find much on it

That hutch is sweet. The use layer looks toxic! Any weird smell?
