Hello,
I dive for bottles, so I can't specialize, I get what I get. Usually, I can find the trademarks or embossing SOMEWHERE on the 'net, but I'm stumped by a fruit jar that I don't even think is old. It is an ABM, 1 Gallon, Clear Glass Fruit Jar, looks very modern to me (no bubbles or other neat stuff), and on the bottom is a very large, embossed "JHS" inside a circle, with the "H" larger than the other two letters. Even though I know it isn't worth anything, I'm getting obsessed about finding out the company--does anyone know off the top of their heads? Thanks in advance either way. [&:]

I looked thru some books and do not find it, however in my notes on Trademarks, Botttles and their makers. I have J.H.S. Co 1885 to 1900, J Hungerford Smith, New York and Canada. Maybe the high "H" is the Hungerford or this could be their older mark. Think I would look towards Canada.

The Red Book of Fruit Jars lists this jar as a J.H.S. (on base)
Smooth lip old style lightning seal
Clear glass lid: J. Hungerford Smith co. Rochester, N.Y.
Product jar for J. Hungerford Smith co.

It's only listed in a clear quart or Half Gallon jar with a value of $6-8.
