Jester, I answered your Question in your other post. Just now seen this post, Sorry for delay. That can is a Chester J-Spout from Pennsylvania dating to around 1937-1941. A very tough can. If much better shape would be $1,000+. LEON.
Hemihampton, You are a freaking GENIUS!!. I looked up the chester J spouts and i think you hit the nail right on the head. I'd been looking thru a couple beer sites and couldn't find anything. I'd almost given up hope. Thank you!!!
I'm very familiar with this can. Out of the thousands of cone tops I have seen over the years I've seen maybe only seen 3-4 of these clean indoor & another 3-4 rusty dumpers. Did you find this can in a Dump recently, If so I can be out there next weekend to help you dig more? If you need help? Let me know? THANKS, LEON.
Leon,
Found in an embankment where they used to just dump trash. I found some nice milk quarts on the surface from dairy that went out of business in 1970. i did go back with some friends a week ago. found some interesting bottles, nothing very old. dug in same hole i found the cans. first thing we did was uncover 2 baby copperheads. Now I'm tempted to go back and search the whole damn embankment. unfortunately, i don't think any can i would find there wouldn't be rusted. but I'll run it by my friends and see if they want to give it another shot.
damn, now i'm excited. copperheads though[]
