I also have a culligan water type of bottle that we found in our basement. It is blueish greenish in color and says "Patented Dec. 15 1914", but no company name. It is 7 to 8 inches tall with a diameter of 7". It has a metal screw cap that is very rusty and has a hole in the middle. I am attaching a picture of it, and it is sitting upside down in the picture. Anyone know what it is?

What you have is a kerosene bottle for an old kerosene heater. I haven't seen any water bottles with screw on lids, they usually had foil and paper caps. The lid had a spring loaded ball that allowed the kerosene to flow only when the bottle was seated in the heater. Your bottle is missing the strap that held the handle.
