I was out today and ran across a bottle, it is aqua, has an applied lip, lots of bubbles and is debossed on the bottom 1920 with 3 vent holes ( I think ) a really cool bottle but, I`m going to need a bigger display case !!!!!
Dont know of value, but it looks like it could have been used to make a damn big batch of wine. I know an older Greman gentleman that my parents are friends with that use huge bottles like that to make his homemade wine. Bigger than your normal demijohn. His arent that old, but same shape, and probably the same size.
I agree it was likely used for homemade wine.. even the residue on the bottom looks familiar to me.. I run a small vineyard and use several vessels like this one.. yours looks like a 10 gallon..
I have one similar to that. Huge! Base is embossed 13G (in the center) Around the edge of the base is M C A G S T D. 1947. This thing is a monster! Very crude and wavy glass. Some nice bubbles and I assume an applied top. Greenish-aqua. More on the green side.
Timmy, nice to hear from you, where do you store your bottle ?
jskirk, I would like to see someone tumble that bottle ! I was wondering when someone would notice my PJ`s glad you like `em.
