What is this?

Hi,

I found this beauty yesterday and I can't figure out what was used for. I presume that is have some connection with lamp gas, due to its shape, but it's just a thought. Could anybody please enlight me? Thank you for looking.

Is it open on the bottom or is it a "bottle" ?
Could you show us the bottom and the top?

I am guessing this is a perfume, or cologne...perhaps an ink..I like it!

The bottom is not open. That would have been easy to identify. Please have a look at the picture.

Looks like a lamp base to me ! Good color though !!

The neck is kinda tall for a minny lamp but about right for an ink. Definitely not a perfume. Just my thoughts.[8|]

its an early oil lamp. There was a brass cap that goes over the burst top.

Thank you all for the feedback. So, it looks like I have an early lamp. How early though? The dump is from about 1880 to 1900.
