Post pics of your first ACL bottle(s) that got you started in collecting.

Here are the very first 2 that I ever bought.

My first was a "Don Diego" from San Diego, California that I found in 1976 when I was 24 years old (I'm 60 now). But shortly after finding it I decided to focus strictly on Coca Cola bottles and sold the Don Diego at a swap meet for about $5.00. It took me 34 years before coming across another one, which, in 2010, I paid $150.00 for.

Here's the one I currently own, which, for all I know, might be the same one I sold 34 years ago for only five bucks ...

Don Diego Beverages ~ San Diego. CA. ~ 23 <(I)> 9 ~ Owens-Illinois ~ 1939

Here is my first one. When I was about 10 years old, I went to the flea market with my aunt. Nobody else would ever go with her but me. As a present for being a "good boy" (her words), I could pick out something to buy. (Ok, all kids out there, it pays to behave.) This is what I chose. If you look closely at the left side of the bottle, you can still see the $3.00 price tag that I have left attached for more than 4 decades. I can't believe I actually picked one that turned out to be so difficult to find! I feel my aunt is smiling down from above.
The bottle: Jay Kola, 1941, Oklahoma City, OK

bottlingco...you just had superior taste in design, even at that early age.

My first acl purchase was the Colonial red and white full hoop skirt girl 7 oz.

It's still worth three dollars after all these years. Maybe.

My first.......this 'Spike It' from Charleston.......only one I've ever seen from S.C..

Found it buried in the dirt two hundred yards from where I live now. That was around 1971-2 and have had it since then. I belive it used to look better like me........but like me it has seen five Old Ladies and numerous moves in the past 42 years, guess that'll take it out of ya.

Back about 1978-79, I was given about 30 or 40 common ACLs and I was hooked. I bought this bottle soon afterwards around Winder, GA for $1.50. I beat myself up for "paying" for a bottle, but just absolutely loved the colors. The squat bottle, the lettering, everything about it- I was hooked. I spent a lot of years after that buying about any cheap bottle that came across, some nice, most common. At the end of the day, the Sun Spot is still a common bottle, but one of my favorites because it was the first.

I was tagging along with my mum to this old mum and & pop furniture restoration store that has been there longer than I have been around ( I was 13 at the time, I am 17 now)! well, when my mum was paying her bill for some antique furniture we had restored there. I wondered off to a back room which seemed to be a furniture bone yard. I was looking around when I saw this bottle lying on the back of a shelf. The minute I laid eyes on it I knew I had to have it! I ran back to the owners and asked them If I could buy this bottle from them for a buck. They said sure, and that one phrase marked the beginning of my love for ACL collecting. This is the bottle "Jumbo Cola."
