As the name implies, I have recently been bitten by the bottle bug! The dirt road I walk the dog on is an old dump road and I've found a few sites with loads of bottles and rusty cans, among other things. Nothing there is extremely old - some '40's, a lot of '70's - but I'm having a ball digging up all of this swag!
There's a new site I've come across at the corner of a farmer's field where junk was dumped down a steep hill in the woods. Here I think there's older stuff. I joined the forum in order to learn more about some of the stuff I found. Here's one item I have no idea what it is. Can anyone identify it?

Hello Julia,

Welcome, and thanks for bringing that footed orb. What's the bottom look like? Any markings?

It's used for suction on the skin, it's warmed and placed on the back or other areas by healers...

It's actually called cupping, for those of you not familiar with traditional medicine, cupping is....an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin; practitioners believe this mobilizes blood flow in order to promote healing.Suction is created using heat (fire) or mechanical devices (hand or electrical pumps)...

Good call, Jim,

I think you've got it, but Julia's looks like the large economy size to me. [8D]

Doesn't look like something I'd be signing up for voluntarily.

There appears to be a wide range of technique employed.

Not so fond of the apres Baguanfa look.

As practiced today, I'm thinking there's a real 21st Century Chinese Quackery Component of which I'd be leery.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did have an idea that it was used for suction but mine doesn't look like the ones in epackage's picture. This orb has no marks other than a seam running all the way around it from one end to the other. It's also about the size of a rubber ball. I have a lot more bottles I need identified in future posts. Thanks again!
