I' ve got a open pontil bottle, rolled lip, ca. 1840' s - 50' s, embossed on one side - G.P.O.B., on the other side is C.C.W. I believe the GPOB is Gutta Percha Oil Blacking, I' m trying to find out who CCW was (assuming that was the maker). Any help would be appreciated.

I'am just taking a shot in the dark but I would not rule out the possibilty of it being a hair dye bottle.

Hi Rich, no I never got an answer, I figured it would be a longshot. I guess it very well could have been shoe blacking, I know that gutta percha is still widely used today for many different things from waterproofing to golf balls. Mint cond. I would think $20 - $40.

Hey guys,
I don't have any company info., but I found this bottle listed in past auctions as such:
Ending 1/24/00 at $27.75 and another sold in "mint condition" on 11/19/00 at $26.00.
