Why do some Canadian hobble skirt cokes have the full date e.g. 1936 vs 36? on the base.

Here are my date code Dominion cokes. The snow made the pictures hard to see. First pic is a 34 and the second a 36. I am almost sure I have a 33 but cant find it at the moment. I'm assuming these are date codes not just a coincidence.

So I have seen also a 1935 Dominion....date codes is more than likely what we're seeing here.
