That seal certainly looks applied to me and most certainly is a European wine bottle.

The sealed bottles were valued as being a high quality wine, whiskey, etc. and therefore are in collectors demand. There are also knockoffs out there. Here is a link to a sight on carribean dive bottles which involves aging the bottle by lip, seal, bottom, etc.

That is a wine bottle (or champaign because of the size of the kick) and a very nice find indeed. Now to research the L.

I can't see the lip very closely but compare it to these lips and see if you can date it.

That type of finish or lip treatment, flared lip and laid on ring, is called a flared ring finish. Imagine that.[sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif]

The bottle could also be from the wine regions of Spain.

Hey Juan, Is that a small crown on top of the "L". I can see something in the pic and if it is a tiny crown I can ID the area the bottle came from and give you an idea who it was for or who bottled it.

Yeah, I see a crown on the L as well. Seals were originally put on bottles for those of royal descent. Hard to say though, it seems that would need to a much older bottle than it appears.

Well, It seems a crown but I'm not sure. It could also be another mark :a dash.
Sorry

Hey Warren, although I'm not sure if it is a crown, I'd like to hear your opinion about the area the bottle came from and who the bottle could be for or who bottled it.Thanks.
Juan Carlos.
