Hi all,

Found this on today's dig. It is an ashtray given out by Chrysler at the 1933 Century of Progress Worlds Fair in Chicago.

I don't know if it is punched copper or bronze. Should I try cleaning it and how??

Thanks

hj

It's look like it was silver plated, the base is probly pure copper, I have a bracelet that is similar, I'll see if I can find it and post a pic.

Generally, beyond a gentle washing to get off loose dirt, etc., it is not a good iead to try to polish ground-dug metal artifacts.
