Shag and I got out yesturday afternoon to do some creek walking at a spot I have been driving past for a couple years and wondering about. On one side of the road we found nothing but a new fishing hole and a couple shards.Once on the other side of the road and walking a trail along one side of the creek we both notice some "blue" about 40 yds away on the other bank. After a second look we notice what looks like a stoneware crock and a bottle sticking out of the ground. We crossed the creek in a hurry to find the crock and a 1870's era Dr.Jaynes intact. The blue was just some enamelware but it served it's purpose as a marker bouy. The coolest find was a grinding wheel found in the creekbed.Instead of being made from sandstone it was made from white flint & quartz.Maybe Shag will post a picture. We did some scratching and it showed some promise but was not immeadiately the "goldmine" we thought it would be.It seams to date 1870-1920 so we will see.My favorite find was much older than the glass and pottery. It was a native american knife made from gorgeous flint. The tip was broken but it is still a nice find.
