Mystery Lid or Cap

Appears to be a lid of some sort or cap. Has no threads and seems to be some type of pottery or stoneware. The shield on top has two torches crossing through a wreath with ribbons coming off the bottom of the wreath. Any guesses of what this could be? It's nearly the size of the mouth of a milk bottle.

Probably would have had a cork glued to the smooth portion. My guess is Liquor container.
