    What is this? Fire grenade?

My dad recently found this with some bottles that he traded with a guy that didn't know what this was either. It is 3 1/2 inches in diameter and 4 1/2 inches tall. Looks like a four piece mold (2 on the neck). It has really thick glass on the bottom and is a light olive or yellow olive color. Is...

Pontiled Seal Demijohn, Old or New?

Any thoughts on the age or origin of this bottle? It is pontiled and measures about 6 3/4" tall. Although it has a couple pieces of fire brick in the glass and scratches on the bottom, it almost looks too clean and not crude enough to be very old? The seal appears to depict a crest of some sort...

    Iler's Bottles , any info?

I found the Eagle Gin, and a week later got the Malt Whiskey. They are both Iler's bottles, from the Willow Springs Distillery in Omaha. I can find lots of info on the distillery, but no info or value on these bottles. They are SCA, pretty tall, I like the Eagle Gin because it's shaped like a...

    neat soda

One of my favorite bottles, found at an auction a month or so ago. Does this appear in any books? What are the best books to have besides Matt's? I was thinking of buying the spectrum of Digger O'Dell books, any suggestions? Thanks!

any info on this Keeley bottle? not gold cure...

Just curious if anyone has any extra information on this bottle I found recently. It looks just like the Keeley's Gold Cure for Drunkeness, but with much less interesting embossing. The back shoulder has Keeley's script signature. I know the other Keeley bottles have some value, do you think...

    Best Poison Book?

What is the latest definitive U.S. Poison book? Is the new version on ebay for $50 worth it, or should I just buy the older Kuhne books? Thanks for any help! -Ryan

    What are these?

I've been wondering what these are, as I've found conflicting information on them. The Hunnewell bottle I've heard is for medicine, yet most people associate this general shape with a food bottle and 1 person even called it a mustard bottle. The second one says G. Venard on one side and San...

Sanford's Ink with Stopper, any info?

Along with the Chinese bottle I also found this bottle and decided to buy it because of the unique stopper. Even though the bottle is purple and the stopper is more clear, I think they go together, definitely fits well... Without the stopper it is 3" tall, about 2 1/4" in diameter. It says "4...

Strange Chinese Bottle - any info?

I found this at a yard sale this weekend, and I thought it was pretty interesting. It is very crude and chock full of fizz and bubbles, very similar to a couple tiny little opium or medicine bottles from an old Chinese camp I have circa 1850's-1860's. This one is a much different shape...

Civil War Era Bottles on TV

Just in case you didn't know, or are in danger of forgetting (like me) check your local listings for the National Geographic Special on the S.S. Republic and the recovery of its treasures... In my area it's on Wednesday the 17th, (TODAY) at 8pm... I saw a few bottles in the preview, does...

    Bill Porter Coke Book available?

I've been wanting to get my hands on a copy of Bill Porter's Coke Bottle checklist for awhile now. I tried to email him, but got no response. I guess I should just send my money off and hope I get a book, but I was wondering if anyone else has ordered from him anytime recently? Thanks, -Ryan

    Motor for Tumbler?

I've been wanting to build my own tumbler (I'd buy one but I'm nowhere near able to afford one). I was thinking of using a spare garage door opener motor, but after doing the math I figured it would cost me $3.50 in electricity to run it for 3 days straight. Not bad compared to what it would...

    What is a Kick Up?

No picture to go with this question, but I was wondering why some bottles have what some people call kick ups? I have a couple of these with deep kick ups and am curious about them. Are these freeblown? Can a kick up be called a type of pontil? Thanks, -Ryan

    Lion Brewery LTD

Does anybody have any information on this bottle? Might be after 1900 with the crown top but it reads "Lion Brewery LTD" registered trade mark (with lion embossing) then "Aukland Lion Ale & Stout" Was this made in Aukland then imported to U.S.? I found a picture of an identical one on the...

    Tabasco Bottles

Sorry to flood the board with questions! This will be my last question for awhile, I think maybe these bottles are a little more interesting than my other posts... I have two Tabasco bottles. The newer one is clear, the seam goes over the top, it's 4 3/4" tall, and the bottom reads...

Mayr's Wonderful Remedy - Any info?

Has anyone seen one like this? It's a Mayr's Wonderful Remedy, Chicago, U.S.A. The seam goes over the top, it's about 6 1/4" tall... Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, -Ryan

Dr. Ball's - Ever heard of it?

Hi, I have a Dr. Ball's bottle, about 8 3/8" tall, seam does not go over the top. I can't find it in any of my books, just curious if anyone knows anything about it? Thanks a ton, -Ryan

    Silmerine - What is it?

I have a "Silmerine" bottle that stands about 5" tall. The seam is pretty low on the neck, does anyone know what it is? Thanks, -Ryan

    Pontil?

Found this flask, I don't have the height but the only embossing is "Full Pint". It is amethyst and has a funny mark on the bottom that looks suspiciously like a pontil! I've never owned a pontiled bottle before, is this my first?! Thanks! -Ryan
