Ball Perfection Jar with Muncie Milk Glass Lid

Well, the last time I posted may have been when I dug a Ball Perfection Muncie Milk Glass Lid. I've been looking for a jar to buy to put the lid on, and finally scored a pint jar on ebay last week. I took a chance, the photos were awful, and it said it had a metal lid, but didn't show one. I got...

Ball Perfection Pat. Apr. 10, 1900 Muncie, Ind. lid

Hi all, I found this lid yesterday in a TOC dump. I've dug hundreds of lids, but never this one. I haven't been able to find much about it, only that it is not common. It's milk glass, and in perfect condition. Are there places to buy a metal band for this? And which ball perfection jar would...

First dig of the year-not too bad

Well, we've had a long hiatus from digging this year. I walked a lot of different promising spots in late winter/early spring that looked good on the map, but didn't find anything promising. Yvette and I went to a spot that we talked about digging last year, it's a small triangle of woods, maybe...

    Abelsen & Scott jug

Dug this jug with my son on saturday, it was in about 20 pieces. I glued it up yesterday - thought it was worth saving. It's still missing a large portion in the back, and I'm hoping to find more pieces of it this weekend. My son dug some great jewelry pieces and a few bottles. Overall a great...

    Mailbox bank restored

Found this over the weekend and posted it a couple of days ago here with some other stuff. I gave it a couple of electrolysis baths, some wire brushing, and some paint. Here are photos of the different stages. I might give a distressed look, but not sure yet - I may enjoy it for a while like...

Interesting stuff, but not a great weekend.

We dug old faithful this weekend again - we've been digging this same area all year. Got a couple more intaglios, some cool cast iron stuff, and a couple of interesting bottles. I did hit a good pocket as we were leaving - about 4 feet deep, that hopefully has some better stuff. Happy Halloween...

    Westford Glass Works Bottle?

I thought I would post this here, since I'm not an expert on historic glass, and I know there are a bunch of you guys in this section. We dug this a couple of weeks ago along with a few other period bottles - I'd say 1860's-1890's. The site is very old, dating to the 1750's. This flask is a very...

    Cameo/intaglio cache

My girlfriend and I have been digging a series of dumps in about a 100 yard span from each other. In early spring, I dug a small carnelian intaglio glass from one of the dumps. Not thinking we'd ever find another, my girlfriend found a cache of about 15 in another one of the dumps about 2 weeks...

Some nice jars we dug last weekend.

Had a great jar dig last week behind a stone wall of a friends house. Some nice clean jars. The first is a mint Electric, ground lip quart.

    some nice surprises

Last weekend and today we dug a new area. Last week was the jar dig - some nice ones, and today was a nice amber flask and a couple of other good finds. This is an old old area, and we haven't been able to locate the older dump, but this one isn't bad - not a big area, but some nice glass...

Need help on this dug decanter

I dug these the other day along with the 2nd coffin poison. One is a crier, the other is in great condition. I just got them cleaned up and I think they are pontiled. They are flint glass (I tested under a black light and they glow bright green), and they are really heavy. I thought at first...

    Another coffin poison!

Yup, found another one. This one is slightly smaller than the first, slightly darker, and, unfortunately slightly cracked on the backside. Still looks great from the front though. Also found a nice local blob top. Here are the two poisons together. The one on the left is the new one. Richard

Dug a nice pontiled extract today!

Well, I hit the same dump again today hoping to get older stuff, and this little pontil was on the bottom. I'm hoping there's more, but this was the only bottle that came from the deep. I think it's a burst lip, but I would like the experts opinions. It has a ridge all around the lip just under...

    Blue Bird deco

Hi all, posted this in "digging and finding" section, and someone asked where it was from. I didn't have an answer and I knew someone in this section would. I think it's a beautiful deco soda. I've dug three of them so far in the same hole, and several of the other one pictured. That's a Hosmer...

    Coffin poison and other stuff

Hi everyone, just wanted to share a few new finds from the weekend. My girlfriend and I exhausted the "honey hole" we've been digging. In the spring I dug a bunch of test holes all around this area we've been digging. So, we moved about 100 feet to the left of the honey hole, and started digging...

Dug a 1913 Buick Enamel pin

This popped out today while digging for bottles in a dump I haven't dug in a couple of years. The dump is a TOC dump that I've found some nice local meds in the past, but today, this is all that came out of the ground. It's pretty heavy, and except for the pin itself, it's in excellent...

Hero jar, Crofts Cocoa, and Skilton Foote Pickle questions

This is my first post in the jars forum, but I thought this was the best place to ask jar questions. I found a Hero jar yesterday, and the Crofts Cocoa and Skilton Foote pickle jars a few weeks ago. I don't know much about any of them, and was hoping you guys could give me some info. Are they...

    Honey hole bottles cleaned up.

Finally got the bottles cleaned up. First one. CROFTS/SWISS MILK/COCOA BIM with ground top. Tiny lip bruise, otherwise mint. Nice looking bottle, it's an oval shape which makes it a little more interesting. Lots of tiny potstones in it - you can see them near the word CROFTS.

    Hit the honey hole today!!!

Well, my girlfriend and I were going to dig yesterday, but decided to go today instead. My previous post showed a good amount of bottles from this particular dump site. I knew we were starting to get into the good stuff, as we were getting deeper. Most of the bottles today came from the base...

3 weeks worth - digging has been good!

Haven't posted in a while, but thought I would share some of our finds from the past 3 weeks. This is from 2 different dump sites. One is a turn of the century - seems to be about 1880 - 1930 or so. The other is an old mill site 1870-1890. We've had a lot of heartbreakers, but managed to pull...
