I use an old Nikon Coolpix 5700. Does great close-up work. I turn off the flash and back-light the bottle and allow the Program mode to do the settings which can be fudged for effect. I look for the light that will create the best effect. Thanks for the compliment. falconer
Thank you both for your information on the Quincy bottle. It is members like you that make this forum so special. I acquired this bottle from a serious antique collector here in Wichita KS during the liquidation of her estate in 2010 along with Ryan's, other hutch bottles, some black glass and...
Ice Blue Hutmacher & Richter Quincy, ILL (mineral water, soda, beer?) with A&D H. C above base with great whittle and stretch marks 7" tall by 2 1/2" base. It sports a metal closure with applied top. Great looking bottle with very little information. Something new from the falconer. Enjoy.
I collect old glass and started a lightning ball collection a few years back. I recently came upon something I cannot identify but wow is it something. See the stylized C indented into the upper level of the ball. I do not believe this was an error but an actual makers mark. Let me know if...
I found it on Diggers site on a piece he did about Fish Bottles. It is a Cod Liver Oil Bottle made between 1890 and 1910 with a ground lip and cap as the one that is on it. Still have no idea of rarity or value. Thanks for pushing me in that direction.
Found a note on the bottle which read "Very Rare Pictured Kovel Bottle Page 1128-Color Listed As To Rare to Price" I have few candy containers in my collection but I cannot find reference to this one and I don't have the Kovel's mentioned. Please help if any other information is out there...
Not really a slug plate and it does have two indention's: one on the top and one underneath the 2. Seems the mystery is solved with the last entry. This bottle has honest bottom wear. Watch for it on Ebay. Thanks for all your help.
Another nice find this week. A straight sided shoulder embossed Jacksonville FL base embossed Coca Cola. In normal light it looks like some of the uranium glass I see in shops. What is the color? My wife and I debated - I called it Citron and she says Green
I nearly fell over going for this gem. Early Four piece mold with wicked pontil Forest Green with Embossed 2 In Circle applied lip bubbles galore with incredible whittle, molding marks and stretch marks. Mint. Measures 11 1/2" tall by 7 1/2' widest point, 5" breadth, 4" by 3" base. Probably...
Got it at a local estate sale. My research says it should be pontiled too. Wonder on how many hinged ones are out there? Love the stretch marks at the top. Where the mold comes together at the top it is sharp enough to cut. Right now it stays in my medicine chest with the Merchant's. Great...
