I dug this bottle years ago and have always wondered about it.

It looks like it was originally a pickle, olive or some kind of food jar that was meant to be used as a bank after the food is gone.
It's embossed "PIN MONEY" on one of the panels.
Has anybody here ever seen another ?

I'd say you were right on. I found this.

pin money pin money, noun:
1. An allowance of money given by a husband to his wife for private and personal expenditures.
2. Money for incidental expenses.
3. A trivial sum.
