I was just cleaning some bottles for sale and noticed the errors on this 7-UP bottle. Aren't there 16 oz to a pint. And the bottle is a 32 ouncer. Any significance. A reason to keep the bottle? (Please yes, please yes.) [&:]
Actually-this bottle is a 28 ounce (not 32 ounce) So-the marking is correct, 1 Pint 12 ozs. (16oz plus 12oz=28 oz) The 28 ounce size was popular during the 1950's and early 1960's. Pepsi, Coke, they all made a 28 oz. AND they all marked them the same way- 1 Pint 12 ozs. It is confusing the way they showed the size of the bottle.
The 32 oz didn't show up until around early 1970's. So-it really isn't an error bottle.
But- I would say it is a keeper! The larger sizes didn't last as long, broke often. Plus, once the bottlers changed over to the 32 ounce size all the 28 ouncers were destroyed.
[]It's all starting to make since now. Boy do I feel stupid! Thank you for setting me straight. I love all the background information too. You're a nice person.
Glad to help. But don't ever feel 'stupid' for asking questions! That is what we are all here at antique-bottles.net for...to help and to learn. I've learned so much from everyone at this site.
