Another day at the beach

Had to go back to the beach to see how things looked after all the storms...

Was hoping Sandy rearranged the beach a bit, but there wasn't as much change as I hoped. However, there sure was a lot of stuff up in the woods above the beach - looks like every bottle, can, bucket, milk crate, buoy, and random bit of junk from upstream ended up in there... and not a worthwhile item among them[:'(]...well, I did take a milk crate to put stuff in...

Saw this little brass whatnot, no idea what it is, but at worst it's scrap brass...

The "whatnot" is the remains of a motor thermostat... goes into the gooseneck between the radiator hose and engine block.
Great pictures. What does the water look like? Anybody dive this area?
