This one is of me outside the "Pawn Stars" pawn shop. Just as we were leaving "The old Man" pulled into the parking lot in his Lincoln, but my brother still has the photo that we took of him walking toward the front door. Those guys are used to having their picture taken, and don't mind it at all. (At least not outside. Inside photos are not allowed). One of the employees told me the place goes crazy whenever one of them show up. We were just leaving, and didn't go back in the store to gawk at him like I'm sure the 30+ other customers in the shop must have done.

The pawn Shop is at 713 Las Vegas Blvd., (The Strip), and is located about mid-way going north toward Downtown.

Great looking kid!

By the way, an anagram of Colton Robert is: bottler croon
Seems fitting somehow.

Something about that name just told me to crank up the ol' anagram program.

Note : Just in case there is even a single member among us who feels this so called "bottle hunting" thread of mine gets way off-topic from time to time, please accept my apologies knowing that I myself could not have predicted this turn of events. Before long I hope to be back in the field digging up soda bottles by the wheelbarrel load. In the meantime ...

Thanks for the anagram. It certainly does fit.

And for those who are not quite sure what an anagram is, it's when you take existing letters and rearrange them into a new word or words. Another example of this would be to turn "Coca Cola" into "a cool can." (It's allowed to add a letter or two. i.e. "n").

Speaking of "cool," check out this latest photo of little Colton with his shades on. Premature babies often develop a slight case of jondice, and the blue lighting (similar to a tanning booth) is used to help improve the condition by exposing them to certain rays. It's new to me as well, but I was told it is a common practice. I told my daughter that Colton is all set to join the "Blue Man Group." All he needs now is to learn how to dance and act goofy. [:D]

P.S. ~

Just for the record, Colton's condition is spelled 'Jaundice.' Which is a yellow discoloration of the skin, whites of the eyes, etc., due to the presence of abnormal pigments in the blood.

From Babies to Bottles ... (sort of). [;)]

I received my Julian Toulouse book in the mail today and am tickled pink with it. I never realized how much additional information it has on the numerous bottle makers. The Owens-Illinois section alone is five pages long. (Which is actually about 2 1/2 pages because the text only covers about 3/4 of the page, with the outer boarders left blank for the various marks and notes). But all-in-all a great book!

Please feel free to inquire about any aspect or listing in it ... Mi casa es su casa. [:D]

I had the opportunity to head up through Wild Cat Canyon this afternoon and managed to squeeze in a little bottle hunting along the way. Wild Cat Canyon Road is paved and winds through the foothills in the Reservation area. There's a casino up that way, but I didn't go that 'far' today. I bet I wasn't in the roadside brush fifteen minutes when I saw the heel of a Bubble Up bottle sticking out of the ground. I knew immediately (I could 'smell' it) that it was a green soda bottle of some kind. My first thought was that it was a 7up. But the main thing was, I kept saying to myself ... "please don't be broke - please don't be broke." And then I got to my knees and gingerly began the careful examination and escavation. I was holding my breath as I slowly hand-scopped the dirt from either side. I kept scooping until I could just barely see the lip area, and then I gave it a little twist and slowly pulled it from the ground and into the light of day. Eureka! Not a nick - chip - or crack in it! Although covered with dirt, it "appeared" to be in mint condition. But after bringing it home and cleaning it up, I discovered it had a few minor label issues. But hey! It was one of my best finds so far this season, and I'm thrilled about it. It's always a good day when you find a keeper. In 1960 I was eight years old. Which means the bottle had been laying there exposed to the soil and elements for fifty years and has been waiting for me to come along and find (rescue?) it. Heck, I might have been the one who tossed it out the car window in 1960. My family used to drive up that way from time to time. Hmmm ... I wonder?

Plus, I discovered I didn't have this particular 8 oz variation. There is no city or state, but on the label just below the big "Bubble Up" it says ... Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. Since 1921. I didn't realize Bubble Up has been around that long. Does this mean there are "embossed" Bubble Up bottles out there somewhere? Hmmm ... I never saw or heard of one. I guess this calls for some researsh. [8|]

{Before} Bubble Up - Illinois-Glass ... 23 (I) 60 ... for 1960

You just gotta be a bottle nut to get excited over a Bubble Up bottle. Oh well, it's better than getting skunked!

Some minor label loss here, with most of it on the other side which is what the photo above is of.

Thanks for stopping by. I'll see ya after my next hunt.
