I did a post not too long ago about a book I am reading involving medicines of the late 18th century. On the cover, is a clear lady's leg bottle. It might be a little sick, and might have part of the label on it, I can't tell which. It really appeals to me and I thought I would see if anyone has anything like it. I know most lady's legs were whiskeys, but not all. Thanks.

Hi Lauren, is this kind a what you're talking about?

This one is early ABM pre-prohibition type.

Hi RedGinger,

I did not see your earlier post and mine is amber, I dont know anything about these types of bottles and I too was under the impression that it was a whiskey due to the lip treatment. I am just surprised that it survived intact in a swift water river.

Thanks for your replies, guys. I'll have Joe scan the cover of the book later. I love that amber one! Wow. I don't have any lady's legs, and I really like them both! I questioned Joe and he said there were some that weren't whiskey, but the majority were. I wonder what was in the ones that weren't whiskey?

I have always lusted after a lady's leg bitters and a barrel bitters. Both are out of my price range and I am unlikely to dig one. Maybe a naive small town antique shop? I guess that with the internet, few naive antique dealers are left! [sm=lol.gif]

Here is a picture of the book's cover. For beginner collectors, the ladie's leg is the large bottle on the right
