Hi all...

I'm lookin' to score a B-day bottle... I've got 2 major choices... One is a pretty rare (6 stars by Watson) O.P. Indian Bitters with my name on it (really...). The other is a colored o.p. med, label only pile remedy... Both in great shape, the latter right now about $100 less than the Indian and beautifully crude even w/out the label, but both are inching out of my rather shallow pockets...

What should I do, besides remortgage the house and bid both sky-hi...???!!!!

Happy Birthday, Ron!!

I've looked at both those bottles, and I would definately go with the Indian Bitters!!

Go ahead and Splurge!! It's you're birthday!! (besides, you can always sell something to offset the cost, that's what I

do...)

There's always something really cool about having a few bottles around with your name on them!!

BTW, guess what my last name is...

Mr. Thompson (that's you, Rick), et al....

Well it took a couple of days but I finally got my birthday bottle...

My wife won it on the Glassworks Auction last nite... Check it out!

Ron

PS... It's somewhat ironic... I first came to this forum with a bitter complaint about being screwed on ebay... Long story, short: I handled two of these bottles, both damaged beyond their ebay descriptions, the last being the worst... Unlike the first, the 2nd guy sent a completely broken bottle which I returned to him; he refused to reimburse me my purchase price & ebay/paypal did nothing... And now, sweet success!!!

Very nice, Ron - your wife got you an excellent gift! When I tell people I want a bottle for my birthday, they seem to think I'm kidding, but I am definitely not!

What do you know about the symbols/embossing on the flask? I could tell it is an eagle on one side, but wasn't sure about the word under the eagle, or the symbol on the reverse side.

Hi Cindy...

Thanks, I'm really excited about it...

The embossing is supposed to read "Keene" for Keene, NH where it was blown... However, it seems many of these bottles came out looking like "Kccnc"... Anyway, the other side shows this to be a Masonic flask... I'm not up on the significance of the symbols, but you can bet I'll have lots of fun doing the research and reporting back...

I'll look forward to the history lesson once you get it all figured out! Love to see some additional pics once the bottle is in your hands!
