I've thought of that too. I think is a contraction for Maine Antiques, but it sure comes across sounding like Mean 'tiques...
Norm obviously has every right to sell the bottles from a digger's collection, even though many are damaged and repaired, but off his last auction it sure seemed to give us a dump load of repaired bottles listed as whole on ebay. MANY of his group lots this time have damage, so I'd be surprised if we don't get hit with a bunch more repaired bottles. The picture of that replaced lip umbrellas shows a bunch of nice looking inks that don't show the repair as obvious.
This is one of the reasons why I generally hate to see anything but the rarest bottles repaired. Some of the repairers are REALLY good at it now, and, though I believe all the ones I've seen are honest, it's just a recipe for someone to try to make a crooked buck on a re-sell.
