Embosses Ball Bottle

Can't seem to find anything on this one! I'm assuming this is a liquer bottle of some sort yet it's made by Ball. The bottle is 9" tall, 5 1/2" wide, & 1" thick. Embossed on both sides with one side saying Schenley. Seam goes almost all the way to the top. On the bottom: Ball 73 D-9 53 44 Federal law forbids sale or re-use of this bottle. Any help on dating this & the worth would be greatly appreciated.

looks like 60's...although "53" may be the date.

It is going to be somewhere in the range of 1932-64. I agree with Diggerboy that 53 might be the date. Good luck finding info.

As an unwritten rule, Federal Law Forbids bottles aren't worth much, if anything. Great window/decorative bottle though.

Darn! Someone at work is interested in buying it, but now I know it's not worth that much, will let them have it! I did hear about the rule of thumb, but forgot all about it. Thanks again DiggerBoy

it is definalty a whiskey bottle..federal law...all those bottles were between 1935 and 1964....as for the year im not sure about how to date the ball bottles but it is definalty 1953 or 1944..the earliest i can find anything on shenley is 1936..
