i'd generally try and avoid digging in a swamp myself but if there is good bottles there why not i guess . dump looks to have some good age to it based on the bottles your finding .
i like the orange crush bottles , found one myself swimming this year but mine was the taller and thiner version .

Thanks for the good words, everyone! The potlid will be proudly displayed, as will the Dr. McTaggarts piece.
The potlid is unusually ornate, and I almost thought at first that it looked like the violets were hand-painted. They are transferred, but man is it ever a colourful and well-decorated lid!
