Was poking around the University today where they were doing some trenching, and I found these Acid bottles. Most of them were the "Con Acid Nitric" bottles (Eight of them), but there was also a Hydrochloric and Sulphuric bottle in the mix. Most had stoppers. They look to be blown glass.

They are typically called reagent bottles.

do you know about what age they are? I would have thought older because the seams only go up to the shoulder.

Those Chem Lab bottles are really cool. Maybe not as old as you'd think but really cool.
You can easily fill a room with NaCl, CCl4, AgNO3 etc., etc,...

I have actually dug a couple of these type bottles out of TOC privies. But bet the design didn't change much before the 1960s.

Most of the earlier ones dont seem to have the chemical formula on them.
The same design has been used for quite a while so its hard to date them exactly.
Are they marked WT CO on the bottom or anything else?

Up to and into the 70's I'm sure and still today. I remember them in HS.
I think some things can't really be improved on so they continued. In this case a ground stopper is as good as it gets. Ground stoppers/bottles really can't be machine made automatically though it's been tried. Plastic did come into play but they're not as cool as those.

The large Sulphuric Acid is marked "T.C.W. Co. USA" All the others are are marked "M.B.W. USA" One of the Nitric Acid bottles is simply marked "Nitric Acid" with no chemical formula.
