Hi, I just purchased my first two vintage bottles from a garage sale today. I haven't been able to find anything on Google about the first bottle I will describe.
Bottle says:
Joyce's quality beverages
Contents 6 1/2 fluid ounces
Bottom reads: registered with 27 S in the middle

I am a complete novice when it comes to antique bottles so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I can't tell you much for for certain but it's probably a Joyce Bottling co flavor and 1927 made at Streater Ill.

Great find! The only thing that seems off is the part talking about the mark being on the heel rather than on the bottom. I may be wrong since I'm very new to this but the heel is the side of the bottle just before the bottom correct?

Not wrong necessarily, just not researched thoroughly enough yet. I have a 28N that I think is probably from that info but also on the base.

How does one go about researching something like this?
Also, I have seen the other threads about the other bottle I purchased but I thought I would share it anyways

Patients and time can get things like this on the net.[attachment=Clipboard01.jpg] but nothing beats the actual documents like city directories, glass house and even old family records.Even that may not be the correct info but it sounds about right and a celery cola should fall into a health drink category.

So Phillip, I understand that bottles interest you. That is fine, because the first bottle in my collection came to me from a neighbor that gave me a little bottle of milk to drink after I asked him how he milked so many cows. My Dad was trying to teach me how to milk a cow - because we had two of them and I couldn't get the milk to squirt into the milk bucket. He showed me how they did it and through his whole barn. He gave me the milk to drink after the showing - and said I could keep the bottle. Id did - and then I talked to my Dad and Grand father about how bottles were made. My Grand Father knew a man that worked at Thatcher Glass in Elmira and he ended up taking me there to see how they were made. At the factory they gave me my second milk bottle, to bring home. I still have both of them. Along with about three dozen more now. 33 years later I ended up working in the mold manufacturing division of that same company as an Application Engineer in their Mold Making Shop. You can read more about my life of glass in my home page reference write-ups. I have a write up for new collectors that I will send to you if you send me y0ur email address.<bottlemysteries@yahoo.com> RED Matthews
