Anyone know anything about a bottle with J.A. Lindsey Columbus G.A on it? Shaped like a coke bottle. Super thick glass cannot find any other makers marks or info on the bottle ? I haven’t cleaned it so the pics are hard to make out but here are some pics

All I can say is it looks like it has an applied top so its gotta be 1910 ish or older. Other than that, I'm not really sure as what the value is or the history behind the bottle itself. Really cool looking bottle though, nice find.

Soda W sounds more like the abbreviation for Soda Works, are you sure it was a beverage? That would be a pretty unusual name for a drink in 1900.

I was able to find that in 1898 he was in partnership with E.S. McEachern. They bottled soda at 1701 2nd Ave. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipe...-_DPLA_-_eae75bc20fe72f7ef88c97325725f494.pdf

In 1902 he's listed as the sole proprietor of the Columbus Bottling Works, and Edwin S. McEachern is listed as retired: https://dlg.usg.edu/record/chat_ccd_dir-columbus1902#text Edwin's retirement may have been influenced by his wife Amanda's death in February of that year: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/179272217/amanda-eulina-mceachern Their family home is listed as 1700 1st Avenue, which would presumably have been the lot which backed onto the bottling works, so it may have been a relatively small operation.

He's still there at 1701 2nd Ave in 1904: https://dlg.usg.edu/record/chat_ccd_dir-columbus1904#text

In 1912 he's still living in Columbus with his wife Mattie at 2742 2nd Ave, but doesn't seem to be in business anymore. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipe...-_DPLA_-_e3c90c4b496510b968ead557d6c6a736.pdf

The Columbus Bottling Works shows up on a few Sanborn maps, the earliest being 1895: https://dlg.usg.edu/record/dlg_sanb_columbus-1895?canvas=22&x=1300&y=1135&w=1522 and the latest available being 1907: https://dlg.usg.edu/record/dlg_sanb_columbus-1907?canvas=44&x=3609&y=2812&w=7619 The bottling works is not present on the 1889 map and I couldn't find any maps from after 1907.

I had found the directory you sent before but another source I found said manufacturer of soda W but I am pretty sure it meant soda water since I found on another source that says J. A. Lindsey & Co soda water manufacturing. Thank you for your help and work! It’s still a pretty unique bottle. A very cool find. I live about 30 mins from Columbus but haven’t seen any more of these bottles anywhere. Thanks again!
