Craigs list a few weeks back but had been unable to go look at them till yesterday.
So we're up and outta the house at 9 for a 110 mile mile trip to see what's there. Talking to the owner I knew there was two I wanted, so let's see what else is there.
About 30 miles from the house while meeting an oncoming 18 wheeler Paula and myself see a hawk take off from the side of the road. He's trying to get airborn and the truck is coming [ at a relative slow speed, 25mph or so] he's just about to make it when he hits the air foil on the top of the cab and cartwheels into the hiway. Damn. We get up the road a half mile of so and I ask Paula "Ya wanna go see about that hawk?" "Yes" she says. I do my best Richard Petty and back there in a second or so. Luckily there's no traffic at the second I jump out. He's still alive I think. I put my hat over his head, ya see I had experince w/ dead hawks and owls. When you think they're dead, alot of times they'll come back to life in your hands and will send tallons into and through your hands, no fun cause they want let go.
Anyway the hats over his head, I pick him up, he bites my finger through the hat, not to hard, hell he just got hit by a truck. I put him in the back seat and we're off again. Paula says "What we gonna do w/ him?". "He's riding to Greenville w/ us." I tell her. About a mile or two up the road he really comes to life. Holee crap I gotta get this bird outta the car now.
