I just purchased this bottle recently from an antique store in Northern California. It is a 3 piece mold with a nice drippy but unusual shaped top. The bottom has a raised dot in the center (vent hole). There is not any embossing and I am guessing this is from around the 1850's? It is tall, stands 11" tall and the mouth is wider than a whiskey, it is almost 1 1/2" across. Can anyone tell me what kind of bottle this is? I'm thinking beer or a food product. Any help is appreciated.

The wider mouth is probably a clue. I would guess a food bottle , maybe capers or a thick sauce. It looks like bottles made from the late 1860s to early 1870s.

Thanks, everyone seems to be in agreement. I was leaning more towards food also, the only thing that made me question it was the size, seems tall for a food bottle. Food bottles aren't usually an area that interests me too much so I'm far from an expert. Still, I really like this one, whatever it is.
