Is this Native American???

I was walking a creek that runs through my colonial era town and found this on a gravel bed. It stuck out like a sore thumb, it was very white in the water, I thought it was an egg at first. It's completely smooth and round, none of the rocks in my area look like this, and none of the rocks in the stream were even close. Could this be an indian grinding stone? It fits in the palm of my hand perfectly.

Yes, it is ancient! Looks to be a game stone or hammer stone. Being that it's polished, I'd say it was for games? Is it perfectly spherical, like a ball???

looks like one of the stones they tied to a stick and whacked you over the head with, I think the technical name was an aborigine head whacker...

Draw some stiches on it an list it on fleabay as the first american baseball.[]

(Sorry if this is dumb but) Any chance it is one of those artificial eggs they put under a chicken to get it to think that its laying them?

I agree with lex that it is probably a gaming stone, but one other possibility exist. Are you sure it is stone? If ceramic or made from clay it could be a milling ball which would be more modern.

Looks like it's Native American; Reminds me of the bocce ball game or petanque sport. Nice find.

Yes that is a native american game ball they usually come in a black rock made of basalt and made in several sizes from the size of a quarter all the way up to softball size/ I also have seen one made of quartz. Very nice find there!
