HOLY SMOKE!

Seeing pictures like that make me want to give up digging all together.
Last week we dug down 7 ft (hitting water at 6+) and all we found worth taking home was this.

Tons of bottles...I love it!!

That is a cool local druggist bottle. First time I've seen one with scissors. I wonder if it was a barber shop too?

Looks like someone dumped their entire antique botte collection in that pit. I don't think I have seen that many bottle come out of a privy in all my years of digging. They must have had a ton of crap saved up and when they filled in that privy and dug another, they just dump it all in that one! NICE SCORES MAN!

Nice haul...the Rau's jar you dug is $50- 75 in the Red Book. The error jar from ajohn (misspelled grove) goes for the same money.
I like the dog bottle and the cut rate druggist....good ones.

Tique, I would say the best was a very rare qt. blob beer and then a lighter colored Mishler's..

Rick, I have no idea what was in the dog bottle, it looks like your average nickel cologne

daeldred, No barber shop that I am aware of. I have seen a different druggist from another city with scissors too..

Cap, I have no idea how many keepers but alot were junkers and went back in.I'd guess 150 or so, embossed bim's.
I have seen quite a few holes like this in this city. They are really cool when they go about 10 or 15 yrs older at the bottom. The good news is that this was a double and I have a matching stoneliner probed out.I hope they had the same habits.

City, it was a good bunch of bottles for sure but they can have even more. We dug one a couple years ago that had around 1600 bottles in it including 50some Sanford Liver Invigorators & around 100 Grover's dyspepsia cures..It was only 6 or 7 ft. deep..I wish we could hit a pontilled hole like that,I've heard of guys doing it so we can dream.

Paul, thanks for the info on the jar. I thought it was rarer than I dug it but found out differently. You don't see many clear waxsealers even unembossed.
