This is the variant blown in the worn mold with almost no embossing evident on the strike.

You will also find the horizontal embossing on this type of jake.I have heard from some diggers that they found a example with full Horizontal and vertical embossing. But until I see one of those examples in person it remains doubtful that it exists.

I have one of the horizontal and one of the vertical. Do you mean to say there is supposedly one with horizontal "and" vertical embossing?

This one with missing embossing isn't really all that nice. Do you think it may have been tumbled too long? I've heard that the embossing can be removed if a bottle stays in the tumbler too long.

I dug one of those McMillan and "Keesters" that had a very obvious IRON PONTIL. It sold through Pacific Glass Auctions for over $700. How's that for a weird Jakeroo?
Top price ever paid for one of those little bottles?

I have an aqua example with the worn mold on the back and the new "curved R" embossing on the front; a green example (my only "colored" jake) with just the worn mold embossing...I used to buy almost every jake I saw. Every inexpensive aqua jake, that is. [8D]

Lordbud,

Donald McMillan and Levi Kester bought out the Turner Brothers San Francisco agency in 1865. It might be western in manufacturing, it certainly would be odd with an iron pontil rod, but not improbable.

Admittedly, it must've been a fluke, but the darned thing had totally grey iron pontil mark. It was absolutely western, and I dug it in a gold camp that lasted over 20 yrs. I can't begin to remember what auction it was in, but maybe Jeff will recall it. It was back when his office was at 21st & O.
