That's cool stuff, never seen a amethyst gin before.....
They need to make a Ground/ water glass detector.......[8|]
It would be easier to find things in mud....
Cool stuff though[:)]

Aloha Earl,
Looks fun and you're finding some big ones.

Let me get this straight. You are probing down for them and then digging holes to recover them??

Preston: Thanks...I wish they made a ground/water glass detector...

Bob: First of all you are walking in shallow water during the low-tide on the mud flats, can't really see the bottle because once you start walking in the mud you stir up the bottom and make the water dirty some bottles are on the surface of the soft mud and is partially buried, some are completely buried not more then 6 inches in the mud, you have to probe 100's and 100's of times quite time consumer and can get tiring...once I probe a bottle I feel for the bottle with my hand and just pull it out or I use the end of the probe to pry it out...aloha Earl

Nice looking gin Earl. Good to see you out and about. I'll give you a call tomorrow, having trouble with my phone.

Joe: Thanks that's true at least I'm out there finding some glass...I was hoping I find some kind of embossed bottle though...The aqua bottle is very common here in Hawaii it suppose to be a "Japanese Sake" bottle, its a applied top with 2 holes which had a hinge that went into the 2 holes on each side of the bottle that held a white porcelain cap very similar to the modern Grolsch beer the way you open and close the beer...

Tony: Thanks...Still hopeful in finding my first Hawaiian embossed bimal of the New Year, lots of slickers though so far close but no cigar...I had a small rush when I pulled the gin out of the mud the rush soon ended when I realized it was a slicker...very nice amethyst gin with no damage what so ever the only thing missing is the embossing lol...shoots give me a call after 1:30 pm I got the early morning shift Saturday 5:30am-1:30pm...

Hey Earl,

That is a great group! Are you using a regular 4ft+ probe, or a cleverly done mud flat probe? How deep are they usually?

Have you tried the Australian Mud Treading method? Not quite sure I've got a grasp of that one...

You do have about half a world's spread of bottles there.
