Congratulations on re-acquiring that magnificent bottle! Your digging buddy is a good friend! I would call that color midnight blue - a really dark smoky blue....I know I don't have any bottles that even approximate that color. Top shelf for sure, and I'm glad that it is part of your collection.
Aren't the fake Hospital bottles the ones with the pontils?
Thanks Cindy, [] yes some of the repro's have a pontil mark and they are always an open pontil. However, there are known examples of some of the wide mouth aquas that had an iron pontil. They are the only pontiled U.S.A. Hosp. bottle that I know of to date. The only thing that had me curious on mine was that most of these bottles I have seen pic's of, were extreamly smooth based. (look at the one posted on Ebay) The base on mine just looks funny but I'm not trying to make an apple out of an orange.[] I agree with the others that it is a nice old crude smoothie.[] Kelley
Yep Jim, but in all honesty, I thought that bottle would go for twice that much. I was surprised. But you are right, it wasn't in that good of condition and we are in a recessed bottle (as well as everything else) market. Plus Ebay is a crap shoot. Sellers market one day and buyers the next. At least I now have seen another one sell and that is truly what I wanted to see. [] Kelley
Back in the early part of this thread, Brian S. asked me to post a picture of my collection of these bottles and it occured to me I didn't have a picture of even 1/4 of them as my computer of old crashed 3 years ago and so went the way of my photos. Thanks Brian, you got me off my butt to photograph my bottles again![] Hope yall enjoy. I bought 5 of these and was lucky enough to dig the rest. Smoke
