Here's a 1/2 gal. yellow amber Mason's Improved I dug less than a foot down in a cellar hole. Still looking for the top...

A ground, fired pontil salt shaker I found on the surface as well. I didn't know it was pontiled until my friend pointed it out. It has a ground lip with screw threads and a sterling silver top.

And lastly, a rare Rhode Island State College milk bottle (now URI). Dug next to the Masons jar. Probably worth around $100

Very nice finds! It's hard enough digging any intact fruit jar, let alone an amber 1/2 gallon jar. Would be nice to find the glass lid as well, or if luck is really on your side maybe it had the milk glass "pickle pusher" insert.[:)]

Hello RIBottleguy; I am interested in your salt shaker. I would like to see the top view of the cap. A lot of these shakers had larger than normal hole sizes than would be necessary for salt. Just wondering.
Are you selling it?

Hi RED Matthews,
Sorry, though I'm not a salt shaker collector, it was my first dug pontiled bottle (oddly enough!), so I'm holding onto it. I'll get a picture of the top up sometime soon. Would you happen to know if it's rare, and how much it is worth (roughly)? Thanks,
Taylor

Hi RIBottleguy
I came across your post researching a pontil salt shaker. We have the same one! Mine was dug I think in Maryland. It’s in the front. Did you find any more info about it? Unfortunately I didn’t dig it. Would love to date it too. And see the top of the salt shaker.
