I took this weekend off from privy digging.there are four pits ready to do but my wife got her second knee replacement and I (wanted) to stay home and take care of her,or she would kill me :)
I was sitting at my computer getting some more pictures together to send in to AB&GC for my story, when I heard a knock at the front door.It was an old friend that I haven't seen in a while. He said,"do you still dig bottles? Before I could answer he said "go get those boxes out of my truck"
My first thought was boxes full of ABM or close to it.I just glanced over the two boxes and confirmed my guess.I tried to be polite and told him everything looked good. When in reality, it was all junk in my eyes.I would end up giving them to someone who would enjoy them more.
After Dave left,I came in the house and went back on the PC,before I could click on a site, there was a knock at the door again. This time it was my digging buddy Paul.He was out metal detecting and found a cool old silver coin,1700s in mint condition!Coins don't turn me on to much, but it was cool seeing a thing that old, in mint condition.I was the 4th person to touch it since 1756 lol.
As we talked I started to look through the boxes of bottles.ABM crown top's,federal law prohibits, screw top jars,Ball masons,Listerine's, open pontil Dr Ebeling's Herb Medicine 910 race St Phila !!! holy crap! a mint OP in a box of junk! I also found two others that I kept,a 3 piece mold tall whiskey and a very dark amber flask (style) bottle.
The weird thing about this whole story is that the Dr Ebeling's is the same bottle I found in the pit with the green op umbrella ink,but that one had no bottom. It also was clear. This one in the box was aqua, whittled and mint.I am sure they are common, but a cool Op none the less.
The Bottle Fairy* does exist

Hey Ricky, fun post!
I think the coin is Spanish.. Carlos III was king of Spain and it's colonies at the time..

That coin looks like a 1 real minted in Mexico City, so it would be Spanish. Darn nice piece, and almost identical in design to the famed "pillar dollars" that collectors like to have around. Nice bootles too! [:)]
