Hello everybody. Obviously I am new here and thought it would be appropriate to post my first bottle find ever. I found it a few weeks ago at an old dump. It might not be that old or rare but it sure was a rush to pull this sucker out of the ground. From what I can tell it is an old whiskey/alcohol bottle.

Markings: Federal Law Prohibits....., 4/5 Quart
Manufacturer: Owens Illionois, 101 (OI) 51

I know that with Owens-Illinois bottles that on the bottom it should list the plant number, followed by the OI mark, then the year in which it was produced. I couldn't find a plant #101 however so I guess I am stumped on that one. But it's still a cool bottle in my book.

And then I found this champagne bottle the very next day. I've found some other interesting bottles lately as well and I'll get around to posting them up soon. There is one in particular that I cannot ID at all. Thanks.

Thanks for the welcome Earl. I'm going to my spot everyday so yes I definitely am hooked. There's nothing like pulling out an old bottle from the ground.

When you can pull whole quarts out that's a good sign. Welcome aboard

Thanks @ beendiggin for the welcome. Any whole bottles to me at this point is a good thing haha.

@madman, thanks for giving a second opinion on the age of this bottle. According to my research don't Owens-Illinois bottles have the date to the right of their maker's mark? It has a 51 on the right of their mark so I am assuming 1951? I am not 100% so maybe I should post an image of the bottom. Thanks again.

Welcome Sublime. Its really fun to see the excitement you have about your finds. It reminds me of the time I first placed my mitts on a blob bottle. I was so impressed. I wondered how it got there. Who used this thing? Was it a special treat for them (or could they afford to buy this)? What was their life like? etc . . .

About your bottles (which you probably already know). The green one is a wine bottle. The amber contained liquor (like Whiskey). Good luck out there!
