I've been pouring over archived issues of the Red Bank Register lately, and I keep seeing ads like this, which make me want to find a bottle of.. ..this one was probably label only, but it would be so cool, this is the town I grew up in... this ad is from Sept 11, 1889:

I used to do research and snooping around on google news archive. Its awesome reading articles from your area published in the 1800's. I wish they didn't shut it down.[]

I go through old newspapers online quite often. The problem is finding the ones for my area. This is a good source for many, though: http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/

Yeah the good old days LOL! Now you have to find individual websites that have the archives.. the New York Times has a good one.. so does this one, the Red Bank Register.. find out what the name was of your local newspaper in the 1800s and google that.. it might be digitally archived by now.. might not of course but it's worth a search..

the problem is for every ad you find that mates to an embossed bottle there are ten ads that are for label only ones that no one will ever find. I see so many cool ads and wish there was a corresponding embossed bottle...

I actually prefer things like almanacs and magazines over newspapers. The ads tend to be printed better, more descriptive, and have nicer engravings.

Reverse Bottle hunting : What came into my sick twisted mind.

Go bury yourself and wait for a bottle to dig you up.
