who boy, you had some bugs under there! Spots like this were a favorite place to throw glass and bottles where nobody would get hurt on the shards... You'd have to call the cops to get me out there!

on taking a second look I see some pretty fresh saw dust under there... I'd have it looked at if your not sure...

not trying to project a negative there, being a carpenter that's just where my eyes go to... Wish you luck with the dig!

Terrific story.
Man ! I have crawled 100s of buildings , installing telephone 50 - 60 years ago and then later looking for bottles. Wish I had done both at the same time. I did come away with some interesting items from under buildings before I discovered bottles, including Black Widow spider bites.

Those big "pipes" as you refer to them, look like heat runs, to me. I'd inspect those things while I'm under there, too. Not a good thing when they are making contact with the ground, I would think...
Good luck, make great finds.

Hey John nice finds! I know you can get fit under there to do some digging; if not remove some floor boards.

OMG! <laughing> I'd be cutting the floor out and pulling it up...[:D] Thats awesome!

That's where the hell the pit to my 1840s house is, under my kitchen. Yes I have thought of ripping up floor boards. But the wife has other thoughts. [:D]

Cool finds John. I am sure there is something good sleeping under there. i hope its not a rabid cat ! [8D]
