Got out with Tom / Ratzilla today for a little dig. We were originaly going to dig a house that was under construction. but it didn't pan out.. So we went around the block to a site tom said there was a great old 1850's house here a couple years back they tore down..
We hop out walk across the yard O look a sink hole drop the probe in crunch crunch. not 40 feet off the streeet so easy you could see it on a drive by.. Get the shovels dig a little test hole out pops some TOC bottles in the first 2 feet. Drop the probe towards the sides to see what were in.. Brick liner.. Maybe a well it probes deep normally you hit bottom at 5 to 6 feet here..
dig a little more more toc layer then ash then some 1860's stuff. to a thick sand cap. Oh no .. probe real easy hit all kinds of stuff dig thru the sand.. appox 1840's stuff lots of broken pottery yellowware Red ware... open pontil utilitys puffs whiskeys black glass etc.. a lot of broken.. but pulled a Dr Jaynes with a huge pontil a turlingtons pontiled and the stuff I will picturethat i got in the piks I know there broken but they fit my collection..
Not many pics as my phone and camera died go figure.. The pit turned out to be a privy and went 7 feet deep with a good solid foot and a half of layer in the bottom..
Sure tom will have some glue back to show.. plus maybe a few bottles too.
