I just picked this thing up in a box lot at an auction, and my first thought was that it was a lamp, but the lip is a little more flared out than the whale oil lamps I`ve seen with this kind of lip. Then I`m thinking possibly a cologne bottle, but the inside of the lip isn`t ground for any kind of stopper. So I`m turning you the knowledgable people here, hoping that someone might have a clue as to what this really was. I think it is from the early to mid 1800`s. It is free blown, the foot is attatched with a wafer with vertical ribs on it, there`s a nice broken solid bar pontil mark, and it is about 6" tall. It`s still an interesting piece no matter what it is.
