Vineland NJ Smith’s Sodas Bottle

Hello all. I found this bottle yesterday washed up along the Delaware Bay in southern NJ. The bottle is labeled, but from searching online I can’t find any information on Smith’s Sodas. It has a good weight to it and has the markings “1228” and what may be a “G” in a square on the bottom. Does anyone know when this bottle was likely made or have any information on it or Smith’s Sodas?

Welcome! Your bottle appears to have been made by the Glenshaw Glass Company in Glenshaw Pennsylvania. It appears to be from the early to late 1940s, maybe 1950s. A couple of bottles like yours showed up on worthpoint along with some 1930s seltzer bottles.

Hello! I know this is an older post but I should have a family book on this somewhere. Warren Smith, my Great Grandfather out of Vineland NJ, was the founder of Smith Sodas, I think he sold the business to Coca Cola and then it was no more. I had several bottles and a crate with the name on it, I'll have to dig around and see what I can find.

Not only is it older, but the person joined October 9, 2022, he posted 2 messages and has not been seen since October 11, 2022. When we spot these older posts if we click on the member's name, we can see their activity such as the number of posts and when they were last seen. That is good info. This heyjudette was just a scab in my books.
