Hey,

A friend has 1/2 dozen of these and asked me if i knew age/ value. She's not selling, just curious.

The biggest thing i've learned on this site is how little i know!

Anyone have any thoughts? They are nice looking examples. One has a three digit phone# embossed.

Photos are not so great...They are all from Philadelphia.

Thanks

Tops seem to be tooled.

Hello rpinkham;
Are there horizontal tool marks around on the finish? I doubt if they were tooled, because there no doubt is no pontil mark. Are there any vertical marks on the finish? Most of these were made in a glass house that used a semi hand molded operation.

I'm not sure on the value, but these huge spring water bottles are pretty tough to find. My friend dug one that was buried upside down once. He could only see the huge base sticking out of the ground.

$20-50, shipping them SUCKS and very expensive, better to find someone local who uses them to brew homemade wine or beer thru Craigslist IMHO...[;)]

Thanks for the input! Of course you are correct about lack of pontil. My thought was they are BIM as the mold seam stops well before the lip. Sorry the photos are so unrevealing...There is some evidence of deformity approaching the lip. Is there another process I should know about?
Guess i was kind of wondering how long this type of bottle has been in use.

In any case they must have been a bit of a trick to manage!
