Some will tell you that they can id a piece of glass from one or another of the New England glass houses. The truth is, without a marking on the bottle, it's pretty hard to call one from another. With that said, there are certain things about certain glass houses that stand out. For example, Stoddard NH bottles are often an amber with decided olive tones that seems to be a distinctive color to Stoddard. I've attached a link to a marked Westford flask through CT history, and I'd say your bottle glass looks quite a bit like that flask. With that said, however, your bottle's form is pretty common, as most of the NE glass houses were making ales, porters, etc for local businesses. Here's the link. http://connecticuthistory.org/ashfords-glass-from-the-past/ Your family attribution is probably about as good and close to the truth as you'll get. A beautiful piece of family history any way you look at it. Jim G
