Doing the brief research on the BANG FOR THE BUCK acls I had a random thought. Jeeze, I have lots of random thoughts, but this one semed germaine to the topic BIG BANG for not many BUCKS.

TO WIT: What is the most expensive, valuable and prized bottle that you have in your collection that which you PAID under our $10 limit?

This should be interesting...photos of your prizes would be nice.

Mine came from one of those old manufacturing plants, long closed, that had been turned into a 'flea mkt'...about a thousand degrees inside and those giant ventilation fans whirring away stirring up the fetid air. Each booth with their own radios adding to the cacaphony. You know the place...right?
I'm in there sweatin' bullets and finally I see four or five bottles inside a display, hack my way through all the rubble with my machete and so finally get to the shelf at the back. First a scarce local marked $3. Mine. Then common. And a label gone. A green common. What's this last one? City of Ladysmith! What, what, what? Also marked $3! I wiped the sweat from my brow one last time, checked out with my prizes and hit the hiway in air conditioned elation. CITY! A bottle gal...sweet.

Next?

I have found my fair share of rare bottles for under $10 over the years but I think this may be the best one I've ever found. I posted a thread about this bottle back in 2010 looking for more info and it subsequently got lost in the archives. I have not seen another example of this bottle and trying to search for any information online turns up absolutely nothing. So here is the story...I stopped at one of the local antique malls I check out every month or so and went out to the bargain barn after having no luck inside. I spy a couple boxes of pop bottles under a table and start looking. One box is marked $1 each and contained common 16 oz Pepsi bottles along with some other commons. The second box looks like junk too until I saw this green glass gem tucked in the back corner. I bring it inside to the shop, promptly paid my dollar and went away with what is possibly my rarest ACL bottle.

No such ACL exists for a local collector like me, I look forward to seeing the great bottles of those who do...

Ahh.. th ole Chin Up.... Jason, I found another fellow who has a Chin Up bottle. His is marked with and city/state. The state is Ohio. I think the city is Cleveland? The G-B on the neck stands for Green Bottling. Since it is an Ohio bottle I guess you won't be selling it. [;)]

The best I have done is on a Southern Maid, Buy It Now on ebay - $7.99. I once picked up a rare one called Hertz with an orange and blue label with an Eagle pic on a sqaut bottle. Paid $10. I have seen those go for $175 on up.

Hey Matt thanks for the info!! There was a Green's Beverages in Toledo, Ohio. That would make sense considering I found it in a shop about 30 minutes away from Toledo. I wonder why some of these bottles, like mine, do not have the city/state and some apparently do have it listed. I suspected that it was an Ohio bottle but now it can be a part of my Toledo collection along with my other Green's Beverages bottles. Still not selling it but if I find another one you will be the first to know.

My best bottle buy ever wan not an ACL but a straight side embossed script Coca Cola from Brenham, Texas. I bought some other bottles in that deal but they were all a buck each. The Coke bottle was damaged but the only existing example so far, and I sold it for $1000 in a private sale.
